Tigerlily is an Australian label specialized in swimwear and beachwear, founded in 2000 by former model Jodhi Meares. Now that it has come of age, Tigerlily wants to conquer the European market. Spain will be the first port of call for the label, which will be sold there through the El Corte Inglés department store chain.

El Corte Inglés will showcase Tigerlily’s beachwear and ready-to-wear collections on its online store and at its four brick-and-mortar flagships: in Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella (Málaga) and in Lisbon, Portugal.

Besides relying on El Corte Inglés, Tigerlily is also tapping UK e-tailer Asos and London’s Selfridges department store for its expansion in Europe. According to FashionNetwork.com’s sources at Tigerlily, the label is planning to launch in France, Italy and the United Kingdom after Spain.

"We have a strong affinity with Spain and we share many of the values of its seaside culture. We hope to be able to grow our presence in the country through El Corte Inglés,” said the brand.

Tigerlily operates 28 monobrand stores in Australia and New Zealand, where it is also sold in select multibrand retailers. It is also available at multibrand retailers in the USA, a country where it is looking to expand. Until February 2017, Tigerlily belonged to Australian group Billabong, and was then sold to the Crescent Capital Partners investment fund, an organization based in Sydney specialising in the acquisition of medium-sized companies in Australia and New Zealand.
