In July 2015 the retailer first announced that it was building a new fulfillment center to accommodate the company’s rapid growth and innovation. The warehouse provides space for about 7 million items and makes a contribution to the delivery of e-commerce orders in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Huub Vermeulen, COO at Bol.com said: “Every day, tens of thousands of items are ordered and even hundreds of thousands at the busiest moment. We therefore find it very important that our customers can choose from a wide range of products and that the order can be delivered within a few hours. Thanks to this new fulfillment center, we can continue to grow and innovate in the future, providing our customers and partners with maximum service.”

Dutch partner PostNL will carry out its sorting activities in Bol.com's fulfillment center and deliver from this location. With this, the time between ordering and delivery becomes as short as possible. It also results in a reduction in CO2 emissions due to the reduced necessity for transporting products. The fulfillment center provides up to 1,000 employment opportunities.

The Netherlands’ leading etailer, Bol.com, was founded in 1999. Today, the etailer counts more than 7.5 million customers in the Netherlands and Belgium and an assortment of almost 15 million items.
