Lululemon to open at Tunsgate Quarter

Tunsgate Quarter, the new mall that will open in affluent Guildford next spring, has signed up another premium brand with news that Lululemon is taking space there.

Tunsgate Quarter will have a central atrium

The Canada-based gym-to-street label will open a 1,815 sq ft store and in line with the current trend for experiences in-store, it will also offer weekly complimentary yoga and fitness classes led by local trainers.

It will join a line-up of other strong names at the mall with Loaf, OKA, The White Company, Cath Kidston, Bobbi Brown and The Ivy Collection all on the list and due to start fitting out their premises over the next few weeks.

Tunsgate Quarter is replacing the previous Tunsgate Square shopping centre on the site and will include 80,000 sq ft of space comprising 18 retail stores and eight restaurants in the heart of Guildford town centre.

While not of the size of some some recent supermalls such as Oxford’s Westgate Centre, developments such as Tunsgate are important enhancements to town centres, adding to their overall appeal at a time when footfall increases are hard to come by and shoppers are increasingly migrating online.

Landlord Queensberry said its vision is to create an expanded leisure hub, embracing independent retailers adjacent to the scheme, as well as adding to the choice from the high street.
