Topshop in Halpern collab for disco diva Christmas party collection

November will see the launch of the latest collaboration collection from Topshop with the UK retailer linking up with Halpern, the label created by London-based New Yorker Michael Halpern.

The Topshop x Halpern collection will launch in November

Halpern, who was named as the top emerging designer at the Fashion Awards late last year, launched his label only in early 2017, having graduated from Central Saint Martins the year before.

He has become known for his 1970s-influenced disco style with plenty of sequins and high profile glamour in all of his collections.

Anthony Cuthbertson, who joined from Just Cavalli to be Global Design Director of Topshop and Topman, said the collaboration comes at “an exciting time in [Halpern’s] career” and that the capsule collection “embodies the disco spirit and signature feminine silhouettes he is renowned for.”

The designer added that it’s “fabulous” such a young brand could work with Topshop and make the label’s style accessible to a much wider group of consumers, and that he wants the whole world to feel as glam as possible.

The collection will launch at a good time for such pieces, just as the Christmas party season gets under way.

It will comprise 28 items with a more affordable take on the Halpern look that has become popular with a raft of celebrities including Amal Clooney, Lupita Nyong’o, Marion Cotillard and Adwoa Aboah.

There will be neon velvet separates, sequinned jumpsuits, iridescent camo print minidresses and more, priced from £35.

It comes after the label also teamed up with high-end retailer Browns in February for an after-dark collection at higher price points.
