Sponsored by Coty and Peroni Ambra, “Perfume: a sensory journey through contemporary scent” is an interactive showcase that will see visitors get up close with the skill and science of contemporary scent-making in a fully functioning perfume laboratory and through a full programme of talks, workshops and demonstrations.

The events will be led by a myriad of established perfumers and scent scenesters, including perfumers from Swiss fragrance company Givaudan’s prestigious perfumery school.

Mark Buxton, the creator of some of Comme des Garçons’ most popular fragrances will participate in a panel discussion alongside Antoine Lie, the man behind Calvin Klein’s Contradition, Burberry’s Brit Gold and Davidoff Adventure.

Visitors will be taken on a journey through the art of perfumery, building on the success of prestige and luxury fragrances in recent years. Once considered as mere entry-level products from luxury fashion houses, perfumes are now becoming luxury items in their own right, with prestige scents now being the fastest-growing segment of the multi-billion perfume industry.

The exhibition will also feature drop-in events for families and children.

“Perfume: a sensory journey through contemporary scent” opens on 21 June until 17 September in the east wing of Somerset House.
