Dakine has a new global general manager. The US travel accessories and outerwear brand inspired by the board sport world was recently bought by US group Marquee Brands, which licensed its operational running to Californian sport equipment specialist JR286. David Orr, a veteran industry expert, has now been appointed as Dakine’s global general manager, and will lead the company based in Hood River, Oregon, into the future.

David Orr - Dakine

Orr will oversee product development, sales and all other business operations at Dakine. He worked six years at sport/outdoor footwear brand Keen, where he was in charge of sales for the US market, before founding his own consultancy firm in May 2018 in Portland, Oregon. Earlier in his career, Orr worked with major groups like Timberland and Adidas.

“His deep and passionate understanding of brands and distribution is the perfect choice to help us execute the mission of making sure we deliver the best products in the world to outdoor enthusiasts, through the incredible distribution channels the Dakine team has developed over the years,” said Jonathan Hirshberg, CEO and founder of JR286, to whom Orr will report.
