On 19 December, Leidsche Rijn Centrum, the forthcoming retail, office and living area currently under construction in Utrecht, announced that Dutch fashion chain Van Uffelen will open a 900 m2 flagship store. From Spring 2018, the chain will offer its men’s, women’s and children’s collections at the new shopping destination, Hof van Bern.

Founded in 1945, Van Uffelen is a multi-brand chain offering both Dutch and international brands. Women's and men's collection include the following labels: Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, PME Legend, State of Art, Gerry Weber, Expresso, Geisha and Opus. For children, Van Uffelen offers labels such as Vingino, Tumble 'n Dry, Cars and Nik & Nik.

The Leidsche Rijn Centrum branch of Van Uffelen will be the fourth branch with an extensive children's department. In addition to the clothing collections, the forthcoming flagship store will also offer several services to its customers such as a personal stylist and the option for customers to assemble their own tailor-made suits.

According to Van Uffelen, the Leidsche Rijn district fits the company’s positioning well, since both parties focus on the middle- and high segment.

In 2016 Van Uffelen took over 11 branches of Houtbrox, a Dutch fashion chain that went bankrupt in that year. The Houtbrox stores continued as Van Uffelen. With the addition, Van Uffelen currently operates 28 stores across the Netherlands. In 2012 the chain launched a web shop for its men’s- and womenswear collections. In 2014 the kidswear range was added to the web store.

Earlier this year Leidsche Rijn Centrum announced that it added C&A, Hema, Rituals, Only, Mango and H&M to its store portfolio. The new district is set to be completed in May 2018.
