On Thursday 28 March, shoppers will be able to discover the layout and assortment of Galeries Lafayette's newest location. However, this won't be just any old store opening, but the unveiling of the retailer's flagship on the Champs-Elysées, situated in an Art Deco building at number 52, where it replaces a Virgin Megastore next to Monoprix's new concept store.

The premium store led by managing director Nadia Dhouib will bring a brand new dimension to the department store chain's retail network, acting as a one-of-a-kind location, somewhere between a lifestyle concept store and an evolving event space. At 6,500 square metres, the location will boast the largest commercial footprint on the iconic Parisian avenue, and will offer luxury and designer fashion, as well as music, books and food.

Customer service will be ultra-personalised, with the store's future sales assistants being considered "personal stylists". According to Galleries Lafayette, the space will be a laboratory exploring the retail of tomorrow, without shops-in-shops or concessions. With this in mind, the retailer has been conducting recruitment and training sessions through a partnership with the Institut Français de la Mode (IFM), with a view to establishing a "Retail Academy".

Galeries Lafayette also has plans to open a new location in Paris' Beaugrenelle shopping centre, in the 15th arrondissement, in the second half of 2019.
