Parisian luxury brand Hermès has unveiled a newly renovated and expanded store in Harbour City, Hong Kong’s largest mall, located across from Victoria Harbour.

Almost doubling the floorplan of the previous boutique for a total footprint of 610 square metres, the newly refurbished space can be found on the shopping centre’s ground floor.
Customers arriving at the store along Canton Road are greeted by a façade combining undulating aluminium panels designed to evoke dragon scales, and a colourful interplay of transparent and translucent surfaces displaying the brand’s collections.

Upon entering the L-shaped space, visitors will find women’s silk goods, with fragrance, jewellery and the brand’s recently launched lipstick line displayed off to the right. Venturing further in this direction, shoppers will discover the full range of Hermès’ women’s offering, in an open-plan area featuring an extensive footwear selection and VIP fitting rooms.
Heading deeper into the store, visitors are guided through leather goods, home and equestrian products by a passage punctuated with boxes displaying the house’s collections, including watches and jewellery. Terrazzo stairs lead up to the brand’s men’s collections and the store’s second entrance, which is located inside the mall.
Designed by Parisian architecture studio RDAI, the store seeks to create a warm and welcoming environment, bringing together an upbeat colour palette, high ceilings and reflective terrazzo floors.
The space combines classical Hermès architectural touches, like mineral mosaic tiles and moulded Grecque lighting, with local materials, such as bamboo, which is incorporated throughout the store in a number of different ways.
Each space is differentiated by a distinct palette, with the women’s universe being bathed in shades of old rose, while men’s products are displayed in a pale green environment. Tobacco tones provide the background for the brand’s leather goods, home and equestrian collections, and serve as a transitionary palette.
Hermès opened its first store in Hong Kong in 1975 and now boasts some 40 locations throughout Greater China. Worldwide the brand has just over 300 locations.
