Hugo Boss is sailing through choppy waters. Mark Langer, the former CFO who took charge of the German fashion label last spring, is having to handle several urgent problem areas, including the steadying of the label's US sales.

The group indeed announced in early September the appointment of Anthony Lucia as President of Hugo Boss USA. The top manager had already worked for Hugo Boss for about ten years, before taking charge of the US business first for Escada and then, a few seasons ago, for Dutch denim brand G-Star.

He succeeds Gerrit Ruetzel, who was at Hugo Boss for 15 years, and for about two years in charge of the USA. The American situation is tricky though. In the first six months of 2016, US sales for Hugo Boss fell by 19%, down to €206 million. A setback which is also due to the proliferation of promotional initiatives in the country.
