The dates for the Cosmoprof Worldwide fair in Bologna, the cosmetics world’s leading international trade event, originally scheduled on March 12-16 and then postponed to June due to the Covid-19 pandemic, have been pushed back again.

As the pandemic continues to spread in Italy and Europe, and following the Italian government’s new measures, organiser BolognaFiere Cosmoprof Spa has announced the show has been postponed to September 3-6, together with its companion events Cosmopack and Cosmo Perfumery & Cosmetics, while Cosmo Hair Nail & Beauty Salon will be held on September 4-7.
“Cosmoprof has always been a global event, attracting to Bologna over 265,000 industry professionals from 150 countries each year. The restrictive measures currently in place are curtailing the presence in Italy of buyers, distributors and retailers from the main European, Asian and American markets for the coming months, and our event risks losing its lifeblood,” said Enrico Zannini, general manager of BolognaFiere Cosmoprof SpA. “Now more than ever it is incumbent on us to act responsibly, to protect the investments and manufacturing activity of our 3,000 exhibitors, and to support the industry,” he added.

A position shared by Renato Ancorotti, president of Cosmetica Italia, the Italian cosmetics industry association, cited in the organisers’ press release: “Following a series of consultations and having analysed the needs of the industry at large, we understand and agree with the decision taken by our partner BolognaFiere to reschedule the event in September. Now more than ever, both [Cosmoprof] and the [cosmetics] industry need to show unity and work closely ahead of the new dates which - we hope - will represent a crucial step for the industry's recovery in the post-coronavirus phase,” said Ancorotti.
In the coming months, BolognaFiere Cosmoprof will be busy reorganising the event’s various initiatives in order to be ready for the September dates.
