Macy’s is gearing up to launch a new immersive retail concept in Southlake, Texas.

The new store format, named 'Market by Macy's,' will open on February 6 at Southlake Town Square, an upscale lifestyle shopping center.

The 20,000 square-foot store will stock a curated selection of Macy’s branded fashion offerings, as well as pieces from specialty designers and local Texas brands for men, women, kids and the home. For a smooth shopping experience, Market by Macy's will offer customers the option to buy items online at Macys.com and pick-up in store, while returns can be made at the Market by Macy's 'Happy to Help You' desk.

The concept is the brainchild of Rachel Shechtman, Macy's brand experience officer and the creator of the 'Story' retail concept. Macy's acquired Story in 2018, and introduced its routinely changing, narrative-driven experiential retail concept to dozens of Macy's locations nationwide.

As an added boost to the launch, Market by Macy’s will debut two new brands: 'Getchell’s Apothecary,' a beauty shop and product inspired by Margaret Getchell, one of the first female executives in American retail, and in-store food and beverage concept, 'Herald,' which will offer breakfast, lunch and snacks as well as cocktails, beer and wine. The Herald space also includes a section dedicated to home décor merchandise.

In addition to its retail pull, Market by Macy’s also caters to the local area by offering event spaces which can be used for community-driven programming, such as cooking tutorials and fitness classes.

According to a report from The Dallas Morning News, several new Market by Macy's locations are planned for this year, including locations in Fort Worth, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia and Washington, D.C.
