Monique Lhuillier is moving into the fragrance sector.

The designer, who is known for her eponymous luxury ready-to-wear and bridal labels, has partnered up with The Premiere Group to launch fragrances in 2020, WWD reports, to be followed by a makeup debut. The group also holds fragrance licenses for the fashion brand Derek Lam, Mercedes-Benz Parfums and Fila.

Lhuillier's aim with the new perfume project is to help women feel "feminine, confident and glamorous," she told WWD in a statement.

The creative is not the only one with her eye one the fragrance sector, which has been booming with new additions recently. Last month saw the fashion mogul and former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Carine Roitfield launch a set of travel-inspired perfumes, while Hollywood actress Michelle Pfeiffer put her stamp on the industry in April with ‘Henry Rose', a new line of scents that aims to be completely transparent about its ingredients.

Cosmetics entrepreneur Huda Kattan of Huda Beauty dipped her toe into the waters in November with the launch of her fragrance brand ‘Kayali' alongside her sister Mona, and last month it was announced that the singer Cher has a perfume launch planned for this fall, marking her first scent release since 1987.

The Monique Lhuillier brand is also the latest of several apparel labels to expand into makeup, following in the footsteps of companies such as Gucci, which unveiled a new lipstick line last month, and Victoria Beckham, who has been teasing a mysterious beauty launch to roll out later this year.
