Reformation taps New Balance for eco-friendly 'dad sneaker' collection

After launching its own in-house footwear in May, eco-friendly brand Reformation has debuted a collection of sustainably-made ‘dad sneakers’ in collaboration with footwear brand, New Balance

The collection of footwear includes Reformation’s spin on the New Balance X90, 997W and 574 silhouettes, in a range of neutral, pastel and earth tones. Prices for the chunky sneakers range from $80 to $110, and all footwear models are currently available via 'waitlist'.

In line with the rest of Reformation’s sustainably made apparel, the sneakers are made using eco-friendly materials like post-consumer recycled polyester in the linings, laces and labels, chrome-free suede, and shoe inserts made from a combination of Eva foam and Bloom algae, Reformation said.

As brands like Swarovski, H&M and American Eagle further their commitments to environmental activism, the collaboration between Reformation and New Balance marks the latest green effort from both brands.

Reformation, which puts an emphasis on eco-friendly production for all of its products, has been 100% carbon-neutral since 2015. Meanwhile, New Balance has offered special collections of eco-friendly footwear as early as 2009, and signed onto the U.N. Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action earlier this year.
