Following the launch of Vans’ Spirit of DIY campaign, the VF Corp-owned brand is hosting a a punk music performance and workshop in London this weekend as it continues its celebration of the DIY culture that punk ushered in.

The new Vans campaign is called Spirit of DIY

The free-to-enter event will happen at Hackney’s Moth Club on Saturday and will feature performances by Vans campaign stars Culture Abuse, as well as SSS, Big Cheese and local artists.

Campaign reported that the company will showcase artists who have been inspired by the do-it-yourself culture of punk’s early days in the 1970s with the whole event including performances and workshops that pay homage to past artists and also showcase newcomers.

The event is part of a performance programme that kicked off in Paris on August 29, was staged Berlin on August 30 and moves to the US next month. The brand will be in Detroit on September 8, Los Angeles on September 12 and Brooklyn on September 25.

The campaign itself features a number of DIY culture ambassadors along with Culture Abuse, with Skate Society Soweto, The Diders, and Revolback also appearing.

Jamie Reilly, VP of global creative at Vans, said: "The campaign speaks to a universal idea of creative expression and shows how it’s manifested by Vans’ family around the world.”
