E-tailer Yoox has signalled a big vote of confidence in artificial intelligence and has widened the remit of its two-year-old YoooxMirror technology with an expanded catalogue now available to ‘virtually' try on using the programme.

The expansion comes as more and more fashion e-tail firms introduce AI and augmented reality tech to help shoppers visualise how their purchases will fit and to hopefully reduce the high level of returns that come with online fashion shopping.

The original YooxMirror launch in 2018 came as “a response to the rise of influencer-driven styling, customer self-styling and image creation on social-media amongst the younger generation of customers”. And now the virtual styling suite “has become even more personalised and interactive, with a completely new layout and an expanded catalogue of exclusive items to choose from,” the company said.

The upgraded version now offers 50,000 fully digitised products, which customers can choose [in order] to personalise their own avatars via a series on in-app algorithms.

It added that the tech was “developed to entertain Yoox customers by allowing them to express their style and combine their favourite items from the catalogue”. The entire 8 by Yoox collection has been fully digitised for the first time and made available through YooxMirror.

Users can also share their looks on their social media channels.
