Lancôme has a new fragrance in the pipeline, and it has drafted in its newest ambassador Zendaya to help with the launch.

The prestige beauty brand is poised to launch ‘Idôle' -- a new fragrance designed with Millennials in mind -- this summer.

Hollywood star Zendaya will act as the face of the scent, with the 22-year-old issuing a statement saying she was "thrilled" with her new role. "Idôle is a perfume that has meaning," she said. "I like the fact that it's fresh and light. I am very particular about perfumes, and Idôle smells absolutely beautiful and I love it."

"We are excited to be able to create a fragrance for a new generation of women questioning the status quo, breaking free from tradition and re-defining the meaning of success," added Françoise Lehmann, Lancôme Global Brand President. "Collective and beneficial for all women, this new confidence is inciting them to raise the bar a little higher every time."

The fragrance -- which was created by Shyamala Maisondieu, Adriana Medina and Nadège Le Garlantezec -- contains sustainably sourced Isparta Rose Petal Essence from Turkey made exclusively for the brand. It also features notes of bergamot, accords of pear, India Jasmine Grandiflorum, and a new 'clean and glow' accord. It will be presented in a slender bottle that measures just 15mm in thickness.

The move marks the first major Lancôme campaign for Zendaya, who was announced as a beauty ambassador for the brand earlier this year. The launch is also the latest in a string of major releases from Lancôme, which teamed up with the influencer Chiara Ferragni to drop a makeup capsule last month.

‘Idôle' will go on sale globally from August 22.
